The Wesley College women's soccer team defeated the Knights of Southern Virginia University 1-0 on a rainy Saturday morning. This win is the first CAC win for the Wolverines this season, taking them to 8-4, 1-3 in conference action, while the Knights fall to 5-7-2, 1-3 in CAC.
The games lone goal came in the 14th minute of the game. Chelsi Biener received the ball just outside of the penalty area and shot the ball over the goalie to score her sixth goal of the season. Just four minutes later Mckenzie Cottie took a shot for the knights that struck the crossbar, landed on the goal line before being cleared by the Wolverines defense.
The Knights would continue to fight back, outshooting the Wolverines 16-14 in the game, but Nasia Denegal would prove her worth with eight saves in the game, four of which came in the final ten minutes of the game. Mckenzie Cox would make five saves for the Knights.
The Wolverines return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 15 for a 7:00 PM start against the Nittany Lions of PSU Harrisburg at Scott D. Miller Stadium.
