DOVER, Del. - A pair of second half goals were too much for Wesley to overcome as the Wolverines dropped a 2-0 final to visiting Washington College.
After neither team scored in the first half, the Shorewomen (3-2-1) got on the board on a goal by Heather Smith off an assist from Katie Bradley in the 53rd minute.
Early in the 79th minute, Washington got out on a breakaway, but Wesley's (1-5-1) Amanda Horkey (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) cleared the ball from in front of an empty net. The Shorewomen picked up a corner kick, however, and put it in for a 2-0 lead off an assist from Smith.
Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) finished with six saves. Tori Ripple stopped five shots for Washington.
The Shorewomen outshot Wesley 15-10, but the Wolverines had six corner kicks, compared to just three for Washington.
Wesley returns to CAC action on Saturday, when York (Pa.) visits Scott D. Miller Stadium.
