Wolverines Fall to Virginia Wesleyan in Day One of Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament

Washington, D.C. - The Woman's Basketball team traveled to the University of Mary Washington for the two day Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament. Friday evening, they took on the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins and though they came back strong in the second half, the team fell short of the win 46-69.  

Lekeshia Brown-Myrick led the Wolverines with 14 points, went 4-11 in field goals made, 6-11 in free throws and tallied up four rebounds and three steals. 

Behind Lekeshia was Bianca Newsom with eight points and five rebounds, with Angelique Gathers bringing in six points, four rebounds and three steals. Megan Shacklock, Katelyn Watson, and SherVohnia Tolson contributed four points each.  

Tolson led the Wolverines in rebounds (6) alongside Sharee Halstead who added five. The team racked up 44 total rebounds.  

The Wolverines will play Lehman in day two of the tournament weekend. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
