Don Riser is entering his seventh year as an assistant track & field coach in 2019-20. He oversees the pole vault, high jump, long jump and triple jump events.
Since coming to Wesley, Riser has coached student-athletes to new school records in the long jump, triple jump and pole vault for both genders. In addition to the records, Riser has coached and assisted coaching 7 NCAA Division III National Champions, 45 NCAA/USTFCCCA All-Americans, 89 national qualifiers, 103 CAC and ECAC Champions, 206 All-CAC selections and 72 Academic All-CAC members.
Riser comes to Wesley after seven years coaching the jumping events at Lake Forest High School in Felton, Del. At Lake Forest, he helped over 30 athletes in the four jumping events qualify and participate in the Delaware State meet as well as one athlete qualify and participate at the High School Indoor Nationals.
He has earned certifications as a USATF Level 1 Coach, USATF Level 2 Jumps Coach, USATF Level 2 Combined Event Coach, USATF Level 3 Jumps Coach and I.A.A.F. Level 5 Jumps Coach. He is also an NFHS Certified Track and Field Official and member of the National Pole Vault Coaches Association.
Don is currently employed as a Technology Services Engineer at Lake Forest School District. Prior to that, he retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service.
He resides in Felton with his wife Jamila. They have two grown children, David, and Danielle
