NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Wesley College's men's basketball team fell at Capital Athletic Conferenc rival Christopher Newport, 69-51, on Saturday afternoon at the Freeman Center. The Wolverines now stand at 10-11 overall and 8-6 in the CAC while the Captains move to 15-6 on the year and 10-4 in league play.
Wayne Lennon finished with a team-high 14 points along with nine rebounds and five steals while Quincy Pettiford added a double-double ten points and 11 rebounds but Wesley shot just 23.6% from the field and trailed the entire game.
Despite the shooting struggles, the Wolverines stayed aggressive throughout the game and went to the free throw line 30 times while sinking 21 of them.
Aaron McFarland and Mike Cherry scored 16 points apiece for Christopher Newport.
The Wolverines host Salisbury on Wednesday, February 11 at 8 pm.
