No. 14 Wesley Football Leaves TCNJ with a 31-13 Victory

Ewing, N.J. – No. 14 Wesley Wolverines defeated the College of New Jersey Saturday, November 2nd by a score of 31-13. The Wolverines increase to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the NJAC.

The Wolverines were the first to get on the board on a 40-yard run by Marcellus Pack, extra point by Bruhn was good for a 7-0 lead over the Lions.

On the following possession, TCNJ picked up 57 yards through the air by way of a Dave Jachera to Vinny Guckin completion. Jachera was rolling out to his right and found an open Guckin deep on the right sideline. He broke a couple of tackles to get all the way down to the Wesley 15-yard line. The Wolverines were able to regain possession by forcing a fumble.

Wesley had a 3rd & 1 at the 48-yard line but the Lions blew up the rush to force a fourth down and forced the Wolverines to punt for a 10-0 lead. Wesley defense held the lions at the next series of downs to force a punt.

Right before the half ended, the Wolverines had the ball in the red zone but TCNJ prevented a score with an interception. Jon Mullin's pass was deflected up in the air by Luke Young, then Michael Siwak came up with the pick in the end zone. The Lions brought it back to the TCNJ 20, but Wesley took a 10-0 lead into the half.

The Lions came back to the third quarter and on 3rd & 7 earned a seven-yard completion. TCNJ punched it in by way of a five-yard touchdown pass to pull the score within 10-7.

The Wolverines answered back on next possession with a two-yard touchdown run from Leroy Pendleton. The Wolverines added another touchdown as Mike Brewer scored on a 23-yard fumble recovery to bring the score to 24-7 going into the fourth quarter. 

Wesley pulled off another touchdown in the fourth quarter by Marcellus Pack on a nine-yard run, Bruhn's extra point was good, 31-7.

With just a minute left in the game TCNJ's Andrew Donoghue scored on a 42-yard pass to bring the game to an end for a Wolverine win, 31-13.

Jon Mullin went 17-29 on the day with 244 yards. Pack led the rushing attack with 57 yards. Peele hauled in six catches for 76 yards, while Corterris Simpson caught five for 52 yards.

Jay Holmes and Ryan Clemons led the Wesley defense with four tackles each on the day. Coray Williams picked up eight tackles while Shymere Vessels and Dante Daniel racked up five.

The Wolverines return home to Drass Field on Saturday, November 9th as they host Kean. Game time is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
