DOVER, Del. - Wesley fell to Mary Washington in four games in a Capital Athletic Conference match at Wentworth Gymnasium. Game scores were 28-30, 30-11, 30-19, and 30-20.
The two teams battled neck and neck through the first game, with the Wolverines snagging a 30-28 win. Game two did not go as well for Wesley, with the Eagles jumping out to an 18-4 advantage and cruising to even the match at one game apiece. Mary Washington jumped out to a convincing 17-7 lead in the third game, before the Wolverines clawed back. Wesley chipped the lead away to 25-18, but could get no closer, falling 30-19. Another slow start in game four doomed Wesley as the Eagles staked an 18-6 lead. Another surge by the Wolverines, this one cutting the score to 23-17, fell short as Mary Washington took the four-game win.
Nettie Choice had 10 kills to lead the Wolverines and also added a pair of blocks. Lilia Brekke added eight kills and Sonila Doda and Jacquelyn Gillespie had seven each. Ashley Hearn doled out 27 assists.
