No. 12 Salisbury Shuts Out Wesley

SALISBURY, Md. - No. 12 Salisbury's Kelly Leary tossed a two-hit shutout as the Sea Gulls picked up an 11-0 win over Wesley in the opening round of the CAC Tournament.

The Wolverines (6-29) managed just a single by Nikki Barton (Harrington, Del./Lake Forest) to lead off the game and a third inning base hit by Carmen Walsh (Rehoboth Beach, Del./St.Marks).

Salisbury (26-2) jumped ahead with a four-run second inning ignited by a two-run double by Rachel Hastings, then broke the game open with five more runs in the third.

Leary fanned seven Wesley batters and allowed just one walk.

Kari Hedges (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) the first of three Wolverine pitchers in the game, took the loss.  She allowed four runs, one earned, in 1.2 innings of work.

Kelly Waskiewicz, Michele Gravhadl and Hastings each had two hits in the game.

With the loss, Wesley heads to Stevenson on April 15.  The loser of that contest is eliminated from the double elimination tournament.
