Scarpato, Toh Score in Win

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Nico Scarpato (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) and Joseph Toh (Spring Hills, Texas/Spring Hills) each scored in the first half to lead the Wolverines to a 2-0 win over Moravian in the season opener for both teams.

Late in the 23rd minute, Matt Nimmerichter (Middletown, Del./Middletown) launched a free kick and Scarpato placed it into the back of the net off a header for a 1-0 Wesley (1-0) lead.

The score stayed that way until the 41st minute when Toh took a pass from Jason Norris (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) and eluded a defender on the breakaway before going low into the right side for a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Wolverines outshot the Greyhounds (0-1) 16-1 in the first half and 21-2 on the evening. The Wesley defense also held Moravian without a shot for nearly 35 minutes to end the game.

Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) picked up his first shutout of the year, making two saves.

Tim Dollarton made six saves in the loss.

Wesley will look to stay in the win column at Alvernia in the first round of the Alvernia Crusader Tournament.
