Wesley Shuts Out Neumann
DOVER, Del. - Will Sutton scored his team-high fourth goal of the season in the 79th minute to lead Wesley to a 1-0 win over visiting Neumann in non-conference men's soccer action.
Nick Talarico stopped six shots for his second shutout of 2008.
Neither team scored in the first half and Wesley (5-3-1) held a narrow advantage in shots for most of the game. In the second half the rain started to come down and it appeared the game was headed for overtime until Sutton scored off an assist from Kyle Lawrence at 78:43.
Just over a minute later the Knights (1-6-1) got a header from Kenneth Urquhart, but Talarico came up with the stop. Neumann had another chance late, but Talarico was again up to the task against an Urquhart in the 88th minute.
Wesley held a 10-8 advantage in shots and had six corner kicks compared to just a pair for the Knights.
The Wolverines, 3-0-1 in their last four matches, will host Salisbury in a Capital Athletic Conference match on October 1 at 7:00 PM.
